A 130-foot sports field will be floating in Toronto’s Harbourfront for the FIFA World Cup

FIFA World Cup fever is officially taking over Toronto with a huge new floating sports field along the waterfront.

Sport Chek, Canada’s largest sporting goods retailer, is transforming Harbourfront Centre into a massive soccer destination with the launch of a new free fan experience that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before.

The waterfront activation, Sport Chek Harbourfront FC, will feature Canada’s first floating futsal (a scaled-down version of soccer) pitch — a nearly 130-foot field installed directly on the water.

The floating futsal field comes as excitement continues to build across Toronto ahead of June’s 2026 FIFA World Cup, with fan interest fueling more community-focused experiences around the city.

According to Sport Chek president Scott Dowding, the goal of the floating field is to create a space that brings soccer fans together while offering a more interactive way to engage with the sport.

But it’s not just for die-hard soccer fans.

Organizers say Sport Chek Harbourfront FC is designed for everyone, from dedicated supporters to visitors simply looking to take up a new activity along the waterfront.

The floating field is just one of many attractions expected to draw fans while they’re in town for the tournament. The highly anticipated FIFA Fan Festival will also take place while Toronto hosts six FIFA World Cup matches between June 12 and July 2.

Besides the floating field, the waterfront will also feature retail activations and other interactive fan experiences designed to bring people closer to the sport, beyond simply watching all the matches.

The floating soccer field opens on June 11 — one day before Toronto’s first FIFA World Cup match — and runs until July 19 when the tournament concludes. Admission is free, and 60-minute sessions can be booked online and on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Sport Chek Harbourfront FC will be located at 235 Queens Quay W.
