The Sea to Sky Gondola is getting a festive makeover and here’s what to expect

The Sea to Sky Gondola offers sweeping views of Howe Sound and access to some spectacular forested trails year-round, but its holiday transformation is a great reason to visit. Running from Nov. 29 through Dec. 31, Spirit of the Season transforms the already magical attraction into a winter wonderland, complete with decorated, snowy trails, photos with Santa, and more.

The ride up to the summit holds up to eight people at a time, and the gondolas are stroller and wheelchair accessible. Once you’re at the top, you can take in the views and explore two different interpretive loop trails, both of which will be illuminated for the holiday season. There’s also the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, numerous hiking trails, rock climbing opportunities (weather conditions permitting), and access to backcountry routes.

Upcoming holiday events

Holiday event programming includes a giant Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 29, 2025, with the community coming together kick off the season and experience a little holiday magic together.

Running on Saturdays (Nov. 29, Dec. 6, and Dec. 13, 2025), the Meet the Maker Market is your one-stop-shop for locally-made gifts. The market is free to enter with a lift ticket or membership, and spotlights new small businesses.

Visitors can meet Santa at the summit and capture some core memories with a family photo set, with slots available for booking online.

Want to explore the area’s picturesque trails by snowshoe? You can embark on a scenic headlamp hike led by a guide and learn about the history of the nearby Spirit Trail.

Finally, on Mondays throughout December, the Summit Lodge will host a special holiday storytime with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies.

Also making its grand return to the Sea to Sky Gondola is Taste of the Summit, its renowned dining series. This year, the seasonal pop-up will feature three Thursday evening dinners (Dec. 4, 11, and 18, 2025) by Chef Vinnie and his team, set against panoramic views of Howe Sound and live piano. Guests can make their reservations for this extraordinary dining experience online.
