Toronto woke up to a winter wonderland & the city can’t handle it (VIDEO)

It didn’t take long for our city to dive headfirst into winter. The snow in Toronto has started to fall, and locals definitely did not see it coming.

Environment Canada issued a “winter weather travel advisory” on Tuesday morning, stating that snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm is possible and that there will be poor visibility due to “heavy snow.”

In the advisory, Environment Canada also called this the “first significant snowfall of the season.”

The weather authority’s warning proved to be correct as the city dealt with a pretty significant storm on Tuesday, which lasted into the evening and overnight.

As during any winter storm, TTC buses couldn’t handle it. A video on Reddit shows seven buses stuck near High Park, unable to get up the hill at Parkside.

Another video shows a group of pigeons huddled together and taking shelter under a tree at Allan Gardens. We feel you, pigeons.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Divison said on Tuesday that long lineups to report crashes were beginning to form as the weather got worse.

A big crash on Highway 427 on Wednesday morning is taking several hours to clean up.

Although we must admit that the city looks pretty covered in a blanket of fresh snow.

As for what the winter has in store for Ontario, it’s still too early to tell.

The Weather Network will be releasing its winter weather outlook later this month — stay tuned and stay warm!
