This 2.6 mile trail winds through ancient forests & ends with a view of four mountains

Looking for a challenging hike that is extremely rewarding? Try Sleeping Beauty Trail. While you certainly won’t be sleeping on this trail, the 2.6-mile hike will give you stunning views and a great workout. Here’s where to find it and what to expect along the way.

The Sleeping Beauty Trail is an out & back trail located in the Mount Adams Area. While it is only 2.6 miles long, throughout your hike you’ll gain 1,400 feet in elevation in 1.3 miles alone.

While steep, the good news is that the most grueling part of this hike is done under the canopy of ancient trees giving you both shade and an awe-inspiring environment.

That being said, there is no water on the trail and the rocks at the summit can be very warm so make sure to have plenty of liquids to keep yourself hydrated while on the trail.

When you reach the top you can take in surrounding views of the valleys of the Indian Heaven Wilderness, Mount St. Helens, Mount Hood, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, and even the Cascade Crest.

If you look closely you can see where the old fire lookout tower once stood. Check for eyebolts and fasteners among the rocks and use your imagination to see the building that once stood there.

So what are you waiting for? Get your quads ready and get out there to see some of the best views in the state while you still can.
