This lakeside Ontario park boasts the full spectrum of fall colours

Beaches aren’t just for the summertime! There are plenty of beaches around the province to swim at when the weather is warm but there’s something about getting cozy at a beach as the leaves change and the air gets cool that just hits different. Silver Lake Provincial Park has a picturesque crescent-shaped beach and this time of year, the park shows off a full spectrum of fall colours.

Getting there

The drive from Toronto to Silver Lake Provincial Park will take you around three and a half hours.

The park is located north of Kingston in Maberly, Ontario.

There is a fee if you’re spending the day at the park – $12.25 per vehicle.

The park’s main attraction is in the name – Silver Lake.

The lake extends 9 km and if you like to be on the water, be sure to take a paddle while the weather still allows for it. Canoe rentals are available at the park.

If standing on land is more your pace, visitors can hike along the Marsh Trail, which Ontario Parks labels as an “easy” trail that should only take around 30 minutes to complete.

The trail has a boardwalk that crosses the park marsh at the eastern end of Silver Lake to higher ground.

The wetland transitions to flora and fauna-covered upland forest – a great place to see the changing colours of fall.

End your day by catching the sunset at the sandy beach within the park.

The water is calm, the leaves are changing and the vibes are just right. According to the park, this time of year is the perfect time to visit as the area boasts “a full spectrum of fall colours”.

Make this park your next fall destination and start planning the road trip!
