There’s a picturesque waterfall & suspension bridge on this Alberta trail

Wild Rose Country is nature’s treasure chest and among its many gems is the Siffleur Falls Trail, an Alberta hike worth adding to your provincial bucket list.

Located within the Kootenay Plains Ecological Reserve, visitors can wander a boardwalk, brave a suspension bridge, and take in breathtaking views of the canyon which is flushed with blue water in the warmer months.

Described by Nordegg Adventures as “busy,” this particular trail is surrounded by mountains, towering trees, and a wide diversity of wildlife and plant species.

7 kilometres round-trip, fun-seekers will see plenty along the way and can take their time knowing that their journey will take them through the park and right to the namesake waterfall.

How to get there

Luckily, the trailhead is located in the Siffleur Falls parking lot, so you’ll be off to a good start!

Once you’re ready to go, follow the main trail across the North Saskatchewan River on the suspension bridge.

You’ll soon reach a boardwalk, which leads to the Glacier Trail where you’ll turn left toward the Siffleur River, the bridge, and a junction. Continue to follow the trail on the right.

“The trail heads into the forest for a short section before coming up to great views of the canyon and a series of viewing platforms,” Nordegg Adventures writes.

“The falls ahead are impressive with the Siffleur River plunging 15 m through a narrow channel in the rock. Take the time to enjoy the views and make sure to stay a safe distance from the cliffs and canyon edge.”
