If you’re looking for a must-visit provincial park in BC to add to your summer bucket list, consider Shuswap Lake Park an essential starting point. Known for its beautiful mix of sandy and pebble beach and plentiful hiking trails, the park is extremely popular during the summer months, particularly from early July to Labour Day. So if you want to get a visit in before the crowds hit, time is of the essence!
Situated on the old delta of Scotch Creek, Shuswap Lake Park includes the entirety of Copper Island, where a 2.8 km hiking trail leads visitors a scenic lookout point of the area.
Note that overnight camping (including houseboats and campfires) are prohibited on the island.
The park also offers a large grassy play area and adventure playground for families to take advantage of during their visit.
