Global fashion retailer SHEIN opens massive office near Toronto & it will be hiring

Fast-fashion retailer SHEIN has opened its first Canadian corporate office and its first-ever distribution facility just outside of Toronto. And they’re planning to add about 200 new jobs by the end of next year.

The infamous global online retailer of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle products has announced it has opened its new warehouse facility at 10 Canfield Drive in Markham.

The almost 170,000-square-foot space will become SHEIN’s main distribution spot in the country, reducing international shipping. handling and delivery times.

“We’re excited to continue to call the Greater Toronto Area home while creating new jobs in the community,” said Vito Zhong, General Manager of SHEIN Canada, in a release.

“Our new facility will help us cut shipping times for Canadian customers and reduce the number of packages in the international shipping stream – delivering on two of our key business priorities.”

And with that, SHEIN Canada plans to add about 200 new corporate and warehouse jobs by the end of 2023. which will offer competitive salaries and benefits, by the end of 2023.

Whether or not you’ve ordered from its online website, you may have heard concerns about its sustainability practices, quality, and more.

According to a CBC Marketplace investigation, it found that SHEIN was one of many online retailers that sell products with high levels of toxic chemicals. They were later removed from its site.

Along with its safety concerns, according to another article by CBC, SHEIN pushes out about 6,000 new items in a single day. And as we all know about fast-fashion items, there’s a higher chance of these goods ending up in landfills and adding to the already concerning issues affecting the environment.

However, that being said, SHEIN does have a page dedicated to its sustainability efforts. It mentions that it only produces 50 to 100 products per item in order to avoid waste of material, the use of an automated system to preserve electricity and paper, and has a strict policy against testing on animals, among other efforts.

Its new Canadian facility is now open and SHEIN plans to open two more facilities in the U.S. in 2023. As for job listings, more info is yet to come.
