Shawn Mendes sings about his breakup on the streets of Toronto in his latest video

Well, now we finally know how Shawn Mendes really feels about his breakup with Camila Cabello. The singer released the music video for his new single “It’ll Be Okay” on Thursday afternoon, where he seems to reflect on the emotional split while walking around the streets of downtown Toronto on a winter night.

In the video, Mendes wanders alone in a long dark jacket with city streets and buildings in the background.

Snow is falling all around him as he sings and walks on sidewalks and alleyways, a lock of hair falling moodily in front of his eye.

Shawn Mendes just announced a major world tour with stops in 3 Canadian cities

“Are we gonna make it? Is this gonna hurt? Oh, we can try to sedate it, but that never works,” are the opening lyrics.

“If the future we’ve dreamed of is fading to black, I will love you either way.” Our hearts cannot handle this!

It seems like Shawn Mendes may have filmed the music video as recently as last weekend. Videos were shared on social media of the singer on set on Sunday, January 9th.

Shawn and Camila’s breakup is fairly recent and the two haven’t spoken about it very much since they announced it on Instagram back in November.

The two were practically inseparable since they were first rumoured to be dating back in June 2019. They said at the time that their love for one another “as humans is stronger than ever,” despite choosing to go separate ways.

“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward,” their note said.

Shawn was spotted walking solo through Toronto in the days leading up to the breakup announcement, in the area of his swanky condo in the downtown core.

On the plus side, we can only hope this means we’ll be seeing a lot more of him living his best bachelor life in the city.
