If you love pottery and watching competition shows, this is for you. A new original series by CBC is set to bring 10 amateur potters from across the country to the proverbial stage in Vancouver to compete in the debut season of The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down. Hosted by Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek, Ginny & Georgia) and produced in part by Seth Rogen (This is the End, Superbad, and creator of Houseplant), the show is set to showcase participants’ “passion for clay.”
As for the latter, fans of award-winning actor and director Seth Rogen know that the Vancouverite has his own passion for pottery, sharing his creations on socials and selling them via his cannabis lifestyle brand, Houseplant.
For eight episodes, the group of potters will “step up to the pottery wheel” in a state-of-the-art studio on Granville Island. The contestants will take part in creative challenges that will test their skills and techniques, with one participant eliminated by the judges each week.
As for who’s on the judging panel, viewers can expect to see a mix of familiar and new faces. Seth Rogen will star as a guest judge, in addition to award-winning artist and ceramics instructor Brendan Tang and ceramicist Natalie Waddell.
