Sweater weather will be here before we know it! If you’re looking for the perfect spot for a dreamy stroll among the autumn leaves, the Selkirk Provincial Park boardwalk won’t disappoint.
This dog-friendly park is home to a beautiful boardwalk called Wheeler’s Walk Trail, a gentle 1.5 km path that takes around 30 to 40 minutes to complete.
According to Ontario Parks, the trail takes hikers from the campground side of the park across a marsh wetland to the west side.
You will also travel through forest remnants and a White Pine plantation that dates back to the 1970s.
In the fall, the trees along the trail burst with bright red, orange, and gold hues.

You can also enjoy the views from the water by renting a kayak on-site and paddling up Spring Creek and into the lake at the mouth of Sandusk Creek.
If it’s warm enough, you can even relax on the small sand beach, or the larger, natural pebble beach fronting the lake.
This park stays open throughout September until Thanksgiving weekend, so you have plenty of time to enjoy it while the weather is still warm.
Other dreamy boardwalks worth visiting this season are the Goderich boardwalk, Hunter’s Bay floating boardwalk, the Crawford lake boardwalk, and the stunning canopy boardwalk in the Haliburton forest.
So, start counting down the days to autumn and get ready to enjoy the views.
