Seattle ranks as the best city in the US for keeping New Year’s resolutions in 2024

Did you make some lofty New Year’s resolutions for 2024? If so, you happen to be living in the right place because it turns out that Seattle is the best city in the nation for keeping resolutions. Don’t believe it? Here’s why Seattleites are so good at sticking to their word.

Resolutions can be hard to keep and this year is no different. According to WalletHub, which compared 182 cities across 57 total metrics, Seattle is the top city for keeping your New Year’s resolutions in 2024.

To determine which American cities are most likely to stick to their goals this year, WalletHub considered both the most popular and most commonly broken resolutions to rank the 182 US cities.

This ranking is based on city’s conduciveness to self-improvement, a factor which was decided by metrics including things like exercise opportunities, income growth, employment outlook, and more.

The top 10 best cities for keeping New Years Resolutions are as follows:

1. Seattle, WA
2. San Francisco, CA
3. Scottsdale, AZ
4. Irvine, CA
5. San Diego, CA
6. Orlando, FL
7. Fremont, CA
8. Salt Lake City, UT
9. Austin, TX
10. San Jose, CA

So why did Seattle do well?

“Seattle is the best city for keeping New Year’s resolutions this year, especially when it comes to physical and financial well-being. Seattleites are more likely than most to engage in physical activities, and a low percentage of people default on their debts,” said Cassandra Happe, WalletHub analyst.

The report also stated that “the Emerald City offers easy access to fresh, locally sourced food, which can make it easier to maintain a healthy diet and achieve healthy lifestyle resolutions… Such an environment can make it easier to accomplish your financial resolutions.”
