Seattle definitely isn’t the sunniest place in the nation. But it turns out, when the sun is out, folks here like to bear it all. Because Seattle has been ranked as one of the best cities for naked gardening. Didn’t know that was a thing? Don’t worry, we didn’t either.
The unique study comes from LawnStater and is in honor of World Naked Gardening Day. Which is May 1st if you’d like to get in on the fun. And as you might guess, there were several metrics that went into deciding this ranking. Some of those include the nudist population, the legality of nudity, and gardener-friendliness among others. Because it turns out, it’s not actually legal to be nude in your garden in all states.

As you can see by the graphic above, Seattle ranked pretty dang high at number three. We’ll admit that’s a lot higher than we’d expect our city to be rated. But when you think about how free-spirited the city used to be, it kinda makes sense. And it turns out our state is actually very nudist-friendly thanks to our laws. Think Fremont Solstice Parade, our famous naked bike riders are doing their thing totally within the law.
So if you’d like to enjoy a day of breezy gardening, you can do so on May 1st. That being said, Seattle is a lot different than it was 20 years ago, so your neighbors might not be so happy.
