Seattle Center’s Winterfest is back next month with its classic train, ice sculpting & more

One of Seattle’s most classic holiday celebrations is back this year. Winterfest at Seattle Center kicks off on November 26th and is happening both virtually and also in-person. It’s your chance to watch performances, see ice sculptures, winter trains, and much more.

If you grew up in Seattle you probably have fond memories of attending this festival. The winter trains are hard to forget with their perfectly placed villages and scenery lighting up the Armory. It’s a tradition that’s been going on for over 40 years and is being made even more fun this year with the addition of a scavenger hunt. All you have to do to participate is pick up your entry sheet at the Train Station, and see how many clues you can spot.

While the train is the main attraction for many, you can also watch master carvers carve seasonal and holiday-themed ice sculptures. They’re both beautiful to look at and a perfect backdrop for your holiday photos. Or pop outside and check out all of the dazzling lights which will provide an equally beautiful photo backdrop.

Additionally you’ll be able to watch live performances on the Armory Stage while you check out the Winterfest Train & Village, or wander the Armory’s food merchants. Some of those performers include The Jewel Tones, Dickens Carolers, Bailadores de Bronce and more. There’s something for folks of all ages and at this festival and you can’t miss it considering it’s a true and tried Seattle tradition.

What’s more is that this festival is free and you can combine it with other nearby activities like the Chihuly Garden & Glass or The Nutcracker at McCaw Hall. Click below to learn more.
