Vancouver’s Science World is throwing an ’80s-themed party next week

Vancouver’s popular adults-only nights at Science World are back, and the next instalment will throw it back to the ’80s. Inspired by the 40th anniversary of Vancouver’s Expo 86, the event will transform Science World into a retro-themed party for one night only.

Visitors will get to journey back to the future in a life-sized DeLorean, exploring the golden era of sci-fi cinema. It’ll also be a night of synth music, big hair, and “weird science,” according to Science World.

If you’re ready to flex your trivia muscles, you can battle it out for the title of Ultimate Sci-Fi Trivia nerd, with winners of each round advancing to the grand finale.

The trivia portion of the night will be hosted by IQ 2000 Trivia, which is known for its trivia nights of all kinds across the Lower Mainland.

You’ll also be able to groove to iconic ’80s throwback songs spun by a live DJ, and enjoy juggling performances that are a nod to Expo 86’s amazing street performances.

The 1985 Oscar-nominated mini-film Rainbow Wars, which was created specifically for Expo 86, will be screening that evening.

Finally, you’ll catch your favourite Star Wars characters patrolling the building to ensure there are no hidden rebels.

As always, guests can enjoy locally crafted alcoholic beverages and peruse the galleries and exhibits at their leisure, child-free.

Limited tickets are available online for $40 a pop, so act quickly if you’re planning on attending!

Other themed After Dark events to look forward to include Science Scores (in celebration of the World Cup), an outdoor edition called Sparks & Rec, and much more.

Brush up on your sci-fi movie trivia, prepare to tease your hair, and grab your brightest neon attire. It’s going to be a night for the books!
