This Ontario park has two beaches & one is sheltered by a ribbon of sand

Summer has been good to us for the most part in Ontario. And we’ve been taking advantage of every drop of sun we get. If you’re looking for a fun beach experience that isn’t your typical or popular destinations, head to North Beach Provincial Park. With two unique beach experiences, here’s what to know about this gem.

You’ll find this outdoor adventure about two hours east of Toronto. If you’ve ever been to Picton Beach aka Sandbanks Provincial Park, you may have passed North Beach Provincial Park.

According to Ontario Parks, there are two beach experiences here. There’s North Beach with 1,200 metres of sandy shores facing Lake Ontario and there’s a sand beach on North Bay that stretches about 800 metres. Its waters drop off gradually on the lake side and steeply on the bay side so watch out for that.

It’s a lesser-known beach therefore if you’re looking for a more peaceful experience, this is the place to be.

Per Visit the County, a ribbon of sand over one-kilometer long shelters the small beach from Lake Ontario.

We recommend swimming on the Lake Ontario side, if you must.

To enhance your experience, there is a small canteen where park souvenirs and food can be purchased. You’ll find this along the Park’s main road.

While exploring the park, visitors have the chance to go bird watching and maybe catch a glimpse of hawks, Saw-whet Owls, and Turkey Vultures.

Hit up the lake with your motorboat, canoe, or sailboat and even go fishing. Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, perch, and sunfish are typically found here.

This outdoor adventure is just waiting for you to enjoy.

Fee

According to Ontario Parks, the cost of a Day Use permit depends on the time of the year whether it be on or off-season, and by park. As for North Beach Provincial Park, the Daily Vehicle Permit is priced at $21 after tax.

It is now open until October 6, 2024.

Happy beachin’!
