Well, it’s official. After much deliberation and a unanimous vote among the school’s board of governors, Ryerson University will officially be renamed Toronto Metropolitan University.
The university hasn’t wasted any time transitioning to its new name on social media, which now appears on Twitter as Toronto Metropolitan University.
The school’s president, Dr. Mohamed Lachemi, released a statement about the new name choice and its significance.
“I cannot think of a better name for our university,” he wrote.
“Our new name […] embodies so many things about our university, our community, our students, faculty, staff and alumni.”
