Ryan Reynolds said he was “starstruck” by this honorary Albertan

From musicians to authors, the Great North has bred some talent so bright that even other stars are blinded.

While promoting Deadpool & Wolverine, Vancouver-born Ryan Reynolds shared who he’d be “struck” by and his answer was one Edmontonians can be proud of.

In a recent interview with GQ, co-stars Reynolds and Huge Jackman took a “Friendship Quiz” in which fans caught a glimpse of what the pair’s dynamic is like behind the lens.

Thanks to a series of questions, we learned everything from their biggest pet peeves and full names to their ideal superpower – but there was one in particular that really caught our attention.

As part of the quiz, the actor and producer implied that he was especially dazzled by number 99.

“Gretzky came to mind, but you actually know him,” said Jackman in response to the prompt.

“That’s pretty good though I was pretty starstruck,” Reynolds confirmed.

“That’s the great one, that’s Canada’s pope.”
