There’s a park in Edmonton with the most gorgeous river valley views

This park in Edmonton has some of the best river valley views in the city.

Rundle Park is located on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River, sitting in the northeastern part of Edmonton. The park features many facilities, sports fields, trails, picnic sites, and even its own golf course. During the winter months, it’s even got its own skating paths.

During these months, you can enjoy getting outdoors and the last of the good weather in this park, exploring all it has to offer.

Endless river valley trails

As Rundle Park is situated in the river valley, it has some of the most stunning lookout spots and trails taking you through it. Whether it’s the rolling hills, the picturesque man-made lakes, the numerous trails, or the stunning footbridges, it’s all breathtaking.

The City of Edmonton provides maps of trails taking you through Rundle Park for your own convenience. You can also take a look at the best hikes and trails in the park, some leading you across the gorgeous Ainsworth Dyer Memorial Bridge. Trails also take you just above the North Saskatchewan River, providing the best views of the river and surrounding scenery.

Most paved trails take you through to look at the stunning nature surrounding the Rundle ponds. There are seven total, and you can explore all of them through the winding pathways in the park.

During the winter, the Rundle Ice Way opens up. This is its long, scenic ice trail through the park, with skate rentals available onsite. The park is also home to two toboggan hills during the snowy season, one on ACT Hill and the other on the North Hill.

Nearby attractions

The ACT Aquatic and Recreation Centre is located in the heart of the park. Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Sunday (when the hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.), individuals can drop in and swim or join in aquafit.

And, if you’re interested, Rundle Park is one of the only two parks in the city which has an 18-hole disc golf course. The other park with a disc golf course is Hermitage Park, also located at the northeast end of Edmonton.
