Situated in the Kootenay Rockies near neighbouring mountain towns like Nelson and Castlegar, Rossland, British Columbia is a destination in its own right, no matter the season.
Home to the world-renowned RED Mountain Resort and Big Red Cats (AKA the world’s largest cat skiing operation), it’s easy to see why the fall and winter months remain one of the best times of year to visit.
On RED Mountain, skiers and snowboarders can expect to shred around 300″ of annual snowfall, with wide-open, groomed runs and amazing powder to look forward to.
Visitors can take in panoramic views as they embark on 360-degree descents at one of the most ‘underrated’ ski resorts, according to Tourism Rossland.
Inbound cat skiing starts at $10 per run, making the winter months a prime time for adventure-seekers to visit the area.
What’s more, the addition of Grey Mountain at the resort means that RED Mountain is one of the biggest ski resorts in all of western Canada!
The charming community of Rossland is also home to a thriving arts and culture scene, inspired by the dramatic ‘riot’ of colours that blankets the city every fall. So it comes as no surprise that many world-class artists call Rossland home.
So there you have it, BC! Whether you’re more into the arts or winter sports leaning, there’s plenty to do in Rossland during the colder months!
How to get there: Drive seven hours from Vancouver to Rossland via Crowsnest Highway/BC-3 E.
