Dinner for two: 8 of the most romantic restaurants to visit in Vancouver

If you ask us, what makes a restaurant romantic is not necessarily what’s on the menu, but how the menu complements the space. The music, the art on the walls, the candles and intimate lights that adorn the room, and maybe even a flower or two on the table to greet you. That said, if the way to your heart is through your stomach, you’ll definitely want to add these romantic restaurants around the city to your running list of date night spots – for the fun decor and the delicious eats!

Without further ado, here are 8 of the most romantic restaurants you can visit in Vancouver.

Zarak

You really can’t go wrong with a visit to Zarak, especially if you’re trying to woo someone through their tastebuds. Whether you’re going for a fun brunch date complete with themed drinks and Turkish coffee, or want to indulge in delicious shareable plates like the Balsamic Oyster Mushroom Kebab, Afghan Mantu, or Mezze board, there’s plenty to enjoy here.

Where: 2102 Main Street

Ask For Luigi

Ask for Luigi has become a must-know name for any self-respecting Vancouverite, and for good reason. While the amazing interior made it a destination spot from the get-go, it’s the incredible dishes that have kept it at the forefront of Italian cuisine in the city. Instead of Tavola’s pork ragu, Ask for Luigi has more or less mastered lamb ragu, which is usually on the menu.

Where: 305 Alexander Street

Bodega on Main

Bodega is the epitome of buzzy, intimate decor and Spanish-style tapas, serving up an array of discounted dishes and aperitivos during their daily happy hour, delicious seafood paella, soups and salads, and a range of mains. Plus, it’s home to its very own speakeasy downstairs!

Where: 1014 Main Street

Collective Goods

This adorable “French-ish” bistro is nestled in the neighbourhood streets adjacent to Commercial Drive in a cozy ‘old-timey” General Store, offering visitors a white and blue curtain-clad dining experience with tons of charm and decadent eats. Visitors can enjoy a candle-lit dinner from one of three tasting menus, or a mix of French comfort bites.

Where: 3532 Commercial Street

Dachi

And now, for a quintessential Vancouver spot. The menu at Dachi changes from day to day, which makes for a thoroughly exciting and rewarding dining experience every time you go. All of their ingredients are sourced from independent, local farmers – which means every dish is a unique creation. Come for the wine and sake, and stay for the relaxed, colourful patio.

Where: 2297 East Hastings Street

LIVIA Forno e Vino

With tasty brunch, espresso beverages, aperitivos, and pasta, LIVIA is a lovely spot with a cozy interior that will make you feel like you stepped inside a Wes Anderson movie. Oh, and if you’re an Espresso Martini fan, do yourself a favour and order their tasty Fig & Hazelnut Espresso Martini.

Where: 1399 Commercial Drive

Vij’s

Another iconic spot for the Indian food lovers out there – it doesn’t get much better (or more romantic) than Vij’s. The food is decadent and beautifully arranged, the rooftop patio is scenic and charming, and the glass ceiling ensures it all stays dry through the rainy months as well. So for a date night spot that has withstood the test of time (and weather), head upstairs to Vij’s.

Where: 3106 Cambie Street

Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions

Now, an extra fun pick that can just as easily turn into a late-night affair. With unique, flowing cocktails, retro decor, laid-back vibes, and mouthwatering charcoal-grilled BBQ the 70s-inspired bar & grill never disappoints. And the spot has two patios to choose from – though we’re partial to the vibrant back patio that has two giant murals on either side of relaxed, multi-functional seating options.

Where: 67 West 6th Avenue

So there you have it, Vancouver. Your next date night is just a reso away!
