The ROM made the exciting announcement this week saying, “To mark ROM’s 110th anniversary, the entire Museum will be FREE on Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.”

The announcement went on to add that guests should be prepared to wait in line (so dress warm) as an anticipated high number of visitors are expected.

All guests are also being asked to enter through the Weston Entrance along Queen’s Park.

Also included in the anniversary weekend is admission to the “special exhibitions” Death: Life’s Greatest Mystery and Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

If you can’t make it this weekend, the ROM also offers free admission from 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM every third Tuesday of the month.

The ROM’s history

ROM opened to the public on March 19, 1914, with a newly constructed building that today is the Museum’s west wing.

The largest additions to the building were made in 1933, 1978, and 2007 and most recently the Museum announced OpenROM — a landmark initiative that will “dramatically open the Museum even more to the public, creating greater access, and a thriving cultural and civic hub in the heart of the city.”

Don’t miss out on this chance to check out the ROM this weekend, enjoy free admission and celebrate this major anniversary!
