This warm-water lake & sandy beach are less than an hour away from Vancouver

Looking for a fantastic day trip option from Vancouver that’s under an hour away? You can’t do much better than Rolley Lake Provincial Park in Mission, which has a warm-water lake that’s perfect for swimming whether it’s officially summer yet or not!

The predominantly flat wilderness park is the perfect destination for the whole family, as it’s far more accessible compared to other BC parks, and offers visitors the chance to wander through two short walking trails.

The first is called Lakeside Loop, which takes approximately 40 minutes to complete and includes a scenic boardwalk. The walk to Rolley Falls is even shorter, just a 10-minute hike away.

The park is also a hotspot for summer campers, often filling up quickly during the warmer months, according to BC Parks. Vehicle-accessible camping is available for $35 per night, with 64 reservable front-country sites to choose from.

As for Rolley Lake, visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, and canoeing during the warmer months, as well as lounging on its sandy beach.

So there you have it, Vancouver! If you’re looking for an accessible park that’s close to the city, this is a great summer destination to add to your list.

Happy exploring!
