The Rogers Centre is getting a $300M makeover & here’s what it will look like

Blue Jays fans are in for a treat come opening day 2023. The Rogers Centre is getting a $300 million privately funded renovation that will transform the stadium into an authentic ballpark.

The reno will focus on “modernizing the fan experience” and building “world-class” facilities for the players, says a press release from MLB.

Team president and CEO Mark Shapiro said that it “will give new and lifelong Blue Jays fans a ballpark where they can proudly cheer on their team.”

The team shared photos on social media of what the new ballpark will look like.

The work will be phased over two or three offseasons, meaning that the project may not be fully finished for a couple of years.

But, fans won’t have to wait too long to see the new ballpark come to life. By the time next year’s season opener rolls around, Rogers Centre will already look considerably different.

Here’s everything that will be completed by opening day 2023, per the Blue Jays’ press release.

• 100 level and 200 level outfield
• Creation of multiple new social spaces with patios, drink rails, bars, and viewing platforms
• Raised bullpens surrounded by traditional and new bleacher seats, as well as social viewing areas that look into the bullpens to increase fan and player interaction
• 100L seats brought forward to the new outfield walls to brings fans closer to the game
• 500 level
• Two new social decks in right and left field
• Replacing every 500L seat from the originals when the building opened
• Field level ­
• Players’ family room
• 5,000 sq. ft. weight room
• Staff locker rooms

As of right now, the projects set for completion in the 2023-2024 off-season are as follows:

• 100 level infield
• Field level premium clubs and social spaces
• Clubhouses and player facilities

Designs of the future project are still being worked on and will be shared with the public at a later date.

Season ticket-holders will benefit the most from the new upgrades and amenities set for 2023.
