Summer calls for beach days and lots of ’em! We need to take advantage of every hot and sunny day in Ontario so that means we’re embarking on another road trip and this time it’s towards Lake Erie. Rock Point Beach offers a lovely shore to lounge on and ancient fossils to discover. Here’s what to know.
This sandy and pebble beach is located within Rock Point Provincial Park. It’s about two hours away from Toronto.
According to Ontario Parks, the 1 km natural beach runs from the campground to the day-use area.

“The beach gradually drops off and is not marked with a buoy line,” shares the site.
It’s important to note that there are no lifeguards posted at the beach and pets are only permitted on the far west end in the day-use area.
And on top of that, there are pre-historic fossils here of an ancient coral reef.
The fossils are embedded in the limestone and searching for them makes for the perfect family-friendly activity.
These fossils date back over 350 million years, according to Ontario Parks.
The park is also home to sand dunes and a viewing platform where you can take in the unique vistas.
