Toronto gym is home to the new and trending HYROX workout competition

Resilience Fitness in Toronto has a question for you: Have you heard of HYROX, the world’s fastest-growing fitness race? With close to 15,000 racers expected to compete in Toronto this fall, chances are you will be hearing it soon!

Blending 8 kilometres of running broken up by 8 functional workouts — think burpees, sled pushes, and more — HYROX pushes athletes to their mental and physical limit. With an electric environment complete with a live DJ, HYROX fever is set to take Toronto by storm this October!

But don’t take my word for it.

Leading the charge on the Toronto HYROX lifestyle are Andrew Gillis and Josh Greenbaum, co-owners of Resilience Fitness, a local gym that specializes in HYROX training classes and full-scale race simulations.

Gillis and Greenbaum have been lifelong practitioners of hybrid fitness, and once they saw HYROX, they knew it was the competitive piece needed to complete their functional training program.

Today, with two locations in East York and Durham, the gym has quickly earned a reputation as Toronto’s go-to HYROX training spot, with many Resilience coaches and members competing regularly in the global competition.

To build on their momentum, Gillis and Greenbaum recently announced the relocation of their East York gym to a 13,000 sq ft sports complex at 1400 O’Connor Dr.

Located just a few blocks from their current location, the new Resilience Fitness in East York promises an even better HYROX experience, featuring a complete renovation, expanded hours, and an exclusive in-house partnership with Performance Recovery Therapy.

Beyond some healthy competition, Gillis and Greenbaum both say HYROX is also a powerful way to stay motivated and build lasting fitness habits. With certified HYROX coaches and dedicated programming, Resilience helps every member train towards their personal best, at their own pace.

When one person wins, the whole HYROX community does too, which is why Resilience also sponsors local athletes.

The gym’s impact on the local HYROX scene hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Resilience has been featured in GQ and Yahoo, and was recently voted the best HYROX gym in Toronto by Clever Canadian and The Best Toronto.
