Winter send-off: A pond skim competition and BBQ party is happening in BC & here’s where

Next week marks the official start of spring, and while we definitely won’t miss the cold or the dark, our days of hitting the slopes are now numbered. Thankfully, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy one final ‘hurrah’ at Panorama Mountain Resort, where this year’s Red Bull Slopesoakers competition & BBQ party will send off the season with a bang.

The Red Bull Slopesoakers puts a unique twist on the classic pond skim concept, allowing competitors to show off their tricks on rails suspended above pools of water.

The event will feature competitions across multiple ponds varying in difficulty level, with “a high chance of getting soaked.” So whether you want to cheer for someone on the sidelines, or participate in said soaking, the event is shaping up to be quite the winter celebration.

There will also be an on-slope BBQ and beer garden for visitors to enjoy, if kicking back and relaxing while the games unfold is more your speed.

The resort will award prizes for the best overall man and woman ($1,000), the best trick ($500), and the best dressed ($500).

Note that the competition is open to anyone to enter, but is capped at 150 participants. So if you’re considering participating, you’ll definitely want to pre-register sooner rather than later!
