This crystal clear swimming hole in Alberta is fed with mountain spring water

Looking for somewhere to cool off this summer? If lounging on a beach sounds appealing, consider checking out Quarry Lake in the Alberta Rocky Mountains, a magical swimming hole with blue water, incredible views and plenty of sand.

Located just outside of Canmore, this sunny day spot was originally a mining quarry but has since been reclaimed and fed by an underground spring.

Here, Albertans can rest, recharge, have fun and get a glimpse of the iconic Ha Ling Peak, a majestic mountain immediately south of town – though your day trip is what you make it!

Bring a picnic basket, a bathing suit, a paddle board or a camera, take a walk or go for a bike ride! There are also nearby trails and pathways with plenty of wildlife, flowers and trees.

If however, you chose to make a splash, it’s important to note that there is no lifeguard on duty.

In some areas, the water gets as deep as 100 meters, so bring your water wings and keep your head up. It’s definitely worth going for a dip if you’re comfortable, but we want you to stay safe. After all, there’s really no place like it.

Heck, maybe we’ll see you out there! Enjoy!
