The annual Pumpkinferno is back at one of Ontario’s most notorious prisons. Visitors will have the chance to explore thousands of pumpkins illuminate the night through an immersive walkthrough.
What’s now a beloved tradition every fall, will return to Kingston Penitentiary starting September 27th.
Pumpkinferno welcomes all to experience a nighttime walk-through past 7,000 hand-crafted pumpkins that will truly come to life.
These spectacular displays will line the walls of Kingston Penitentiary and provide fun photo opportunities for all.
According to Kingston Pen Tours, “the carved pumpkins you will see at Pumpkinferno are realistic, artificial craft pumpkins, whose forms have been shaped from molds of real pumpkins.”
They were designed and carved by young artists from the Eastern Ontario region.
“These designers and carvers were selected based on their penchant for design, whether in their field of study or as a personal hobby,” shares the site.
“They embark on this monumental project every spring, designing, carving, and constructing the amazing array of pumpkin-carved installations you will discover on your tour.”
Pumpkinferno primarily takes place outdoors so be sure to dress accordingly. It will be available rain or shine.
“In the chance of extreme inclement weather, we may choose to close and will post cancelled evenings on Kingston Pen Tours’ social media channels and website/event page,” shares the site.
Pumpkinferno will take you about 45 to 60 minutes to complete but guests can enjoy it at their own pace.
According to Kingston Pen Tours, adults are priced at $21, seniors at $20, students for $18 and youth for $16 – plus tax.
You don’t want to miss out on the thrilling chance to explore one of Kingston’s most iconic landmarks through art.
