A massive two-day Japanese street fest is coming to Vancouver this weekend

Gearing up for a weekend of fun and the sun but want a little something extra to add to your long weekend itinerary?? We’ve got just the event for foodies and art lovers. Vancouver’s largest celebration of Japanese Canadian culture and art is returning for its 46th annual instalment, and they’ve got an incredible lineup of events this year.

For folks who haven’t yet experienced the fest, the Powell Street Festival typically includes a variety of live music and dance performances. Expect everything from taiko performances and martial arts, to Kokoro Dance and immersive theatre.

This year’s fest will feature Otawa Ryu Japanese Dance Group, Southern Wave Okinawan Music & Dance Society’s blend of song and dance, and exciting Middle Eastern dance performances by Noor Dance Company. You can view the full lineup of live events here.

The festival will offer visitors the chance to peruse a ton of food and craft booths. From artisanal sake to a matcha bar – refreshments are definitely covered. And by way of eats, there’s traditional teriyaki, Japanese crepes, Japadogs, and much more.

Plus, folks can enter the Festival Lottery for the chance to win a staycation for two at the Listel Hotel (+ 19 other prizes)! All proceeds go toward the Powell Street Festival Society and help ensure their ongoing sustainability.
