One of Ontario’s oldest towns has a stunning waterfall worth visiting

Summer is here, and we’re chasing waterfalls. This next summer adventure offers a mix of natural beauty and historical facts! And we love it when the two combine. Ancaster Ont. has deep roots that date back centuries and is home to a very popular waterfall. Here’s what to know.

Located within the Golden Horseshoe area, about an hour and a half away from Toronto, is Ancaster.

Ancaster and its deep roots

According to Tourism Hamilton, this town dates back to 1793 and is considered one of the oldest towns in Ontario. It was once the largest industrial centre in all of Canada.

“Its wealth is still visible today with gorgeous historical architecture and a small, but dynamic, downtown,” shares the site.

The town is full of local gems, including shops, restaurants, historic buildings, and much more. History buffs will LOVE their Heritage Walking Tour.

This experience runs from May to October, so if you can’t make it this summer, you’ll have to visit this fall.

You’ll have the chance to explore all the historic churches, stores, and homes that date back to the 1800s.

Now, if you’re looking for natural beauties, check out Tiffany Falls.

Chasing waterfalls

Its conservation area is considered a “significant natural area” for its bedrock exposures, which are an Earth Science Area of Regional Significance.

As for its forested trail, it will lead you to the majestic 21-metre cascade of Tiffany Falls. You’ll want to snap a pic!

If all that exploration got you hungry, get more bang for your buck at Ancaster Mills. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal with a perfect view of its two cascading waterfalls, set against a backdrop of lush green forest, bridges, and stone buildings.

This sophisticated spot is a must.

Grab your friends and plan a day trip this weekend to Ancaster. You won’t regret it.
