In search of a white sand beach and Caribbean vibes this summer? You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy warm, sandy shores – you can do that right here at home. You’ll be glad to know that there’s a tropical-like beach near the country’s capital. It’s none other than Petrie Island and it’s a must-visit.
Located right in the Ottawa region of Orléans, Petrie Island is known for its two stunning beaches.
These summer destinations are popular in the summer and with reason. That’s thanks to their pristine white sand and calm waters.

“Many others come to take in the white sand beaches, the Caribbean vibe, and bask in the restorative sunshine,” shares the Heart of Orléans BIA.
“Still others come for canoeing, kayaking, and observing wildlife, ranging from adorable turtles and magnificent birds to wildflowers.”
Its Main Beach lines down the Ottawa River, and the East Beach is more sheltered, located in a Bay, according to the Swim Guide.
After your beach day, enjoy a lovely picnic and even play a game of volleyball with its net rentals. It’s summer, live it up!
There’s lots to see and do in the area, especially an array of restaurants worth enjoying.
