According to the town’s website, “Penetanguishene has a rich heritage of cultures and people. Recognized as having one of the most beautiful and protected harbours, it is a haven for boating enthusiasts.”

Want to learn more about the harbour? Discover Harbour is open for visitors and there’s plenty to do while there.

Guests can access the reconstructed naval and military base including a wharf, dockyard, sailor’s barracks and captain’s residence.

There are two fully-rigged historic vessels: the H.M.S. Tecumseth and the H.M.S. Bee, both available to explore.

Admission for adults is $11 while admission for children and seniors is $8.

Want to take a stroll around town? There are a few easy walking trails that offer picturesque views such as Copeland Creek Trail. This trail is just 1.5 KM boasting boardwalks, bridges and crushed limestone.

If you’re already planning on visiting Discovery Haarbour, there’s a trail nearby too! The 3.0 KM trail begins at the Historic Port of Penetanguishene “along the waterfront heading east where lumber mills, tanneries and a grand hotel once stood.”

If you just feel like soaking up some sun, we don’t blame you. Head over to The corner of Water Street and Scott Street where you’ll find Rotary Champlain Wendat Park which features a sandy beach and a splash pad!

Huronia Park is another option when it comes to beaches, located on Fox Street.
