It has begun, YYC! As many of you already know, HBO’s The Last Of Us has started filming here in Calgary and to our surprise, the show’s star, Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones, has already been spotted checking out one of our city’s best.
This weekend, the fantasy/action icon was snapped grabbing a bite at Model Milk with Kantemir Balagov, who is set to direct the pilot episode of the series.

The Last Of Us – an adaption of the mega-popular video game – will follow Joel, a man tasked with escorting a teenage girl from an oppressive quarantine zone through an apocalyptic wasteland to safety. Sounds riveting, no?
In addition to Pascal, the show will also star Bella Ramsey (Game Of Thrones), Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant), and Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) so keep your eyes peeled, Calgary!
They’ll be rolling Until June of 2022 and it’s going to be a long hot summer, meaning that if you’re out and about, there’s a good chance they will be too – but please, remember that if you do see any of these familiar faces that you be respectful. They’re still people and this isn’t a zoo!
We know that having celebrities here is exciting, but it’s important we’re kind – especially because this is only one of many shows that will be filming here in the coming months. We better get used to it, folks, Calgary is practically popping off – as we should be.
