Pakwash Provincial Park is closer to Winnipeg than it is to Toronto but it’s worth the trip up north.

According to Ontario Parks, this park is “secluded and serene, this northern park guarantees a sandy beach and shallow, warm waters ideal for swimming, fishing, and canoeing.”

A long, sandy beach is located in the day-use area of the park, a great place to pull out some chairs and lounge for the day.

There’s also a beautiful nature trail to enjoy at Pakwash.

Hikers will cross a marsh, pass a beaver pond and walk through woods along this 5 KM nature trail. Along the way, nine “interpretive stops explain the flora and fauna that inhabit the area.”

Like to fish or want to give it a go?

The lakes in and around the park have lots of Northern Pike, walleye and Lake trout!

A fish-cleaning station with lights, running water and cutting tables can be found by the boat launch, too.

While it can get windy, therefore making the waters a little choppy, you are able to launch your canoe or rent one at the Park Office if you want to paddle on Pakwash Lake. Just be sure to check the weather beforehand to ensure you’re going out on a nice day.

Northern Ontario’s Pakwash Provincial Park awaits! Grab a day pass here.
