Here’s what’s open and closed on Christmas Day in Calgary

Need some cranberry sauce, a bottle of wine or want to go out for dinner? December 25th is just around the corner and there are a few things you should note before you warm up your car or hit the transit line. In order to avoid locked doors and disappointment, here’s what will be open and closed on Christmas Day in Calgary.

Open

Calgary Transit

Need to get from point A to point B? Calgary Transit will be operational – but on a Sunday level of service Christmas Day.

Movie Theatres

Hoping to catch a flick on Monday? Landmark Cinema and Cineplex theatres will all be open over the long weekend!

Lake Louise Ski Resort

Known for having a wide variety of terrain great for all skill levels, The Lake Louise Ski Resort will be open on Christmas Day this year.

Olympic Plaza

Want to go for a skate? The Olympic Plaza skating rink will be open on December 25th.

Where:  228 8 Ave. SE, Calgary

Closed

The Calgary Zoo

Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – while some of you may have been hoping to check out the lights on the 25th, your trip has to wait a day. According to their website, The Calgary Zoo will not be open for Christmas Day.

Malls

Sorry Calgary, if you’re hoping to get some last-minute shopping done, you’ll have to go elsewhere! Southcentre Mall, CrossIron MillsCF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will be closed on December 25th,

The Calgary Tower

Hoping to do some sightseeing with your out-of-town guests on Christmas Day? Sorry, folks! The Calgary Tower will also be closed on the 25th,

Where: 101 9 Ave SW, Calgary

City Owned Recreational Facilities and Leisure Centres

Sorry, Calgary – but this Monday most city-owned pools, skating rinks and fitness/rec centres, will be closed in lieu of the Stat holiday.

Costco, Superstore, Sobeys and CO-OP

‘Tis the season to plan ahead! This year, all of the grocery stores and their affiliated liquor stops listed above will be unshoppable on Monday, December 25th.

Post Offices

Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Monday (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.
