Ever wanted to make your Ontario licence plate a reflection of you? Maybe you have a cool nickname and want to show it off? Or you just want something super funny and give others a laugh. Well, the only way you’d get that is if you can get it approved. And even the provincial government is picky with what can go on your plate before you hit the road. That’s why they’ve shared a list of rejected Personalized Licence Plates in Ontario in 2022, with us.
So before you think you can have “BDB1TCH” on a plate, think again.
The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery handles Personalized licence plate applications and has the final say as to what can and cannot go on an Ontario license plate. In 2022, the ministry rejected thousands of PLPs, not just for obscenity and clarity but of course if it has already been issued. So not only do you have to be really creative, it has to be unique. Names like “6AMEOVER”, “BUMBHOLE”, “ONLYFANZ” and “ILY.CERB” were just a few of the many that were rejected this past year.
And the rejects go on and on and on – for 30 pages to be exact. According to the ministry, there may be PLPs that were ordered between January 1, 2022 and December 8, 2022, still pending review so this may well be much longer than we think.
A list of PLPs was shared with Curiocity, courtesy of the ministry, and let’s just say we get it. And we’re questioning these choices – “COOCHIE” really?

Before we get into the thick of it, it’s important to note that PLP applications will also be rejected if the letters/number combinations are found to be “objectionable” under these categories:
Since the list is pretty long, we shared a few of the rejected license plates below:
“PLPs may undergo a second review as a result of a request for reconsideration,” according to the ministry. “As such, any of the licence plates in the attached list may be approved in the future.”
So, not all hope is lost for you creative drivers! Maybe “WAGWA4N”, “SORRRRRY” and “OUTLAW5” could be reconsidered? Well, maybe not that last one. And especially not “COOCHIE”.
