One of the PNW’s most iconic Arthur Erickson homes just hit the market in Seattle

Nearly every Seattleite knows about the extraordinary homes that exist across the lake in neighborhoods like Medina, Hunts Point, and Bellevue. But unless you grew up in Seattle or happen to have friends that live in the highly exclusive Highlands neighborhood, you might not know it exists. And behind those gates happens to be one of the most significant homes in the PNW which just so happens to be on the market.

The Arthur Erickson-designed Bagley Wright House is regarded as one of the most significant PNW homes of the 20th century. The 9000 square foot single-level residence is sprawling but minimal in its brutalist design. It looks more like a museum than a home upon first glance and that’s because it was designed to accommodate the display of a major modern art collection.

The home was designed in 1977 and is truly one of a kind. However, it was rebuilt and some of the original features have been replaced. That being said the home still has key features like its warm-toned concrete, skylights, and solariums, just reimagined. You’ll also find a grand, new wide-open kitchen, dining, and great-room style living plan as well as 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

Despite its concrete heavy design, the home is full of light and waiting for someone to bring their own objects and ideas in. After all, the space is built to showcase art.

When it comes to the outside, the home is situated on 6 acres that look down a clear-cut corridor of forest land. There are outdoor amenities like a pool, water features and patio space. Of course, you’re also surrounded by the heavily forested lanes of the Highlands and also have a nearby golf course as well as Innis Arden Reserve Park and Shoreview Park.
