Canada’s wine capital is in BC & it is home to over 40 wineries

If you love local wine, you’re probably already aware that BC’s Okanagan Valley is home to some of the best in the country. But what you might not know is that it’s not Kelowna or Osoyoos that’s known as the ‘Wine Capital of Canada,’ but rather the town of Oliver, which is sandwiched in the middle.

In fact, Oliver is home to almost half of BC’s grape vines, according to Wines of BC, and even has its own District Wine Village (open daily in October) that houses 12 wineries, one brewery, and a distillery.

Whether you’re a fan of full-flavoured whites or powerful reds, the charming small town does it all, and you’re sure to find a sip at one of its 40+ local wineries that becomes your new favourite.
