Canada’s wine capital is in BC & it is home to over 40 wineries

If you love local wine, you’re probably already aware that BC’s Okanagan Valley is home to some of the best in the country. But what you might not know is that it’s not Kelowna or Osoyoos that’s known as the ‘Wine Capital of Canada,’ but rather the town of Oliver, which is sandwiched in the middle.

In fact, Oliver is home to almost half of BC’s grape vines, according to Wines of BC, and even has its own District Wine Village (open daily in October) that houses 12 wineries, one brewery, and a distillery.

Whether you’re a fan of full-flavoured whites or powerful reds, the charming small town does it all, and you’re sure to find a sip at one of its 40+ local wineries that becomes your new favourite.

This year’s Festival of the Grape may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still sip on some delicious vinos on your next trip. And for winter sport lovers, Baldy Mountain Resort happens to be famous for its fresh snow due to its high elevation.

Finally, visitors during the fall months can take advantage of the famed 18.4 km-long International Hike & Bike Trail, a paved path travelling through Oliver
along the Okanagan River channel.

So there you have it, BC! If you’re itching for a trip to wine country, you can’t do better than Oliver.
