Every year, Nowruz (Persian New Year) commemorates the astronomical start of spring and the renewal of nature. This year, the historic rite falls on Thursday, March 21st, according to the Iranian Solar Hijri calendar and UNESCO. So if you’re looking to learn more about the holiday and connect with the local Persian community in BC, make note of these Nowruz celebrations taking place this year.
From 6:30 to 9:30 on Saturday, March 16th, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is celebrating Nowruz (Persian New Year) and the start of spring with a family-friendly night of refreshments, live music, dance, live science demos, and a special presentation on the history of Nowruz in the Planetarium Star Theatre.
