These Ontario bluffs have breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside

Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area is a treasure of natural beauty, home to sweeping vistas and rocky trails.

Spanning 400 acres, this park is the perfect spot for a day of adventure, whether you’re a hiking enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful escape.

According to the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, you’ll get to step back in time as you wander the trails and see where “settlers once toiled to cut a living out of the wilderness.”

Timber and limestone industries actually helped shape nearby communities like Singhampton and Glen Huron, too. The region is just bustling in history.

What can you do at Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area?

Trail lovers, rejoice! This conservation area connects to the iconic Bruce Trail, with side trails like the Betty Carter and Ian Lang Memorial Trails offering plenty to explore.

The Key Hole Side Trail is a must-see too. Its dramatic crevices even hold onto patches of snow well into June.

But for the views, trek down the main trail from the parking lot to get access to the lookout which is seasonally accessible, depending on weather.

It’s important to note that all other trails are not considered accessible due to inclines and uneven surfaces, according to the conservation area.

But when the snow takes over its trails, they become suitable for hiking and snowshoeing but are not maintained for skiing or cycling – so be wary.

Recent upgrades make your visit even smoother. The brand-new parking lot on the south side of 15/16th Sideroad is a game-changer, featuring a seasonal washroom building and a convenient trailhead to the Ian Lang Memorial Trail.

But a heads-up: those washrooms are closed for the winter, and overnight parking and camping are a no-go here.

Whether you’re hiking, snowshoeing, or simply soaking in the stunning countryside vistas, Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area offers a slice of nature’s best, waiting to be explored.
