There’s a vintage North Pole express train in Ontario that feels ‘straight from a Hallmark movie’

All aboard the North Pole Express! There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than aboard a vintage caboose decorated for the Christmas season. Located in Smiths Falls, Ontario, this festive ride will also feature an appearance from the big man himself: Santa Claus.

Here’s what to know before you go.

Getting there

The North Pole Express will leave the station from Smiths Falls’ Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario.

If you’re driving from Toronto getting there will take you around four hours. From Ottawa, the drive is an hour.

The train runs three Saturdays: November 30th, December 7th and December 14th, 2024.

What to expect

There are time slots every half hour between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the three Saturdays, each with Santa aboard!

Tickets cost $25.57 per person, just select a day and a time slot.

The train is only half the fun though. The station and Museum grounds will also be decked out for Christmas with crackling fire-pits, carolers, warm refreshments, face-painting, reindeer games and vendors – the perfect place to spend a day with family.

Happy holidays and enjoy the North Pole Express, Ontario!
