Nokia just opened a new ‘sustainable’ office on the waterfront in Toronto

Another multinational company has set up shop in downtown Toronto. Nokia Canada has announced the opening of its new sustainable office on the city’s waterfront.

The telecom company says that due to “increased demand from Canadian customers and partners,” Nokia is expanding its footprint in the north with a brand new hub in Canada’s biggest city.

The office will bring more workers into the downtown core, but employees still have the option to work remotely as they choose.

The employees based out of the Toronto office are part of Nokia’s software development, customer service, and sales departments.

Located at 100 Queen’s Quay East, the office is part of Toronto’s redevelopment of Sugar Wharf. The space is decorated with local artwork and offers panoramic views of the lake.

Nokia says it chose this particular office space for its sustainability and Class “AAA” LEED and Energy Star certifications, in an effort to minimize its environmental footprint.

In addition to this, Nokia has plans to build a “world-leading, sustainable R&D hub in Ottawa,” which will support 340 new “high-value” jobs.

Nokia is one of Canada’s critical service providers. It supports major Canadian industries and infrastructure, including transportation, utilities, smart cities, government services, and natural resources.

The company is on a mission to attract talent and is currently hiring for several Ontario-based jobs. You can take a look at the current job listings here.

Multinational companies definitely have their eye on Toronto these days, and we don’t blame them — we’re pretty dang awesome.
