New Year’s Resolutions might not be for everyone, but there’s no denying the power of goal-setting, regardless of the time of year. That being said, the start of a new year or season is a great time to hit ‘refresh,’ and it looks like Canadians have a mix of resolutions they’re working towards in 2024.
A new report by online casino company Casinos.com reveals Canada’s top New Year’s resolutions for 2024, breaking them down by province. Unsurprisingly, resolutions related to fitness, smoking, drinking, and losing weight dominate the list, but each province has its own spin on them.
The report uses data from Google Trends to measure the level of interest in the most popular and searched-for New Year’s resolutions, examining a number of queries from December 27th to January 4th.

Overall, it looks like finding love is the most popular resolution in Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia, all of which have “dating” ranked as their #1 New Year’s resolution.
In Alberta, the #1 resolution is improving fitness, followed by increasing productivity and meeting new people.
Meanwhile, Nova Scotians want to learn how to meditate, get a raise, and dive into the world of dating – in that order. Similarly, people in Prince Edward Island have “mindfulness” at the top of their list.
Aside from finding their person, British Columbians have made it their resolution to get stronger and read more in the new year. Likewise, Ontarians have “weight training” at #2 and “weight loss” at #3.
In Manitoba, the top two resolutions are to win and save money respectively, while people in the Northwest Territories are focused on dating and losing weight.
In the Yukon, the top resolution is to learn new hobbies, followed by therapy and weight loss.
Finally, resolutions related to quitting smoking prevail in Saskatchewan, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
So there you have it, Canada! Here’s to setting some meaningful goals and working towards them regardless of the time of year. Good luck!
