New list shows the 20 friendliest towns in Canada for 2021

You ever stroll into a Canadian town and think “Gee, this might just be the nicest place in all of Canada?”. We know we why, which is why we’re curious about Expedia’s new list of the friendliest towns in Canada for 2021. Apparently, you can measure friendliness, in a roundabout way. Here’s the scoop.

For the list, Expedia combed through user reviews at cities and towns across the country. They looked for words like friendly, friendliest, amiable” in the reviews, plus other keywords and phrases that speak to how nice a place is. They also looked at reviews between January 2019 and December 2020, so this does factor in the pandemic, too.

So, here are the friendliest towns in Canada for 2021:

1. Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia
2. Digby, Nova Scotia
3. Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
4. Baddeck, Nova Scotia
5. Drumheller, Alberta
6. Saint John, New Brunswick
7. Gatineau, Quebec
8. Thunder Bay, Ontario
9. Banff, Alberta
10. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
11. Whistler, British Columbia
12. Osoyoos, British Columbia
13. La Malbaie, Quebec
14. Nanaimo, British Columbia
15. Mont-Tremblant, Quebec
16. St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
17. Gananoque, Ontario
18. Canmore, Alberta
19. Stratford, Ontario
20. Fernie, British Columbia

Now, we do have to put a major asterisk beside all this. As it currently stands, we need to take into account both local and provincial travel regulations before telling you to go explore. Fingers crossed that you’ll be able to do so this summer- surprisingly, Expedia really did pick some great, friendly, tourism-loving towns to highlight.
