NASA’s launching an epic new telescope that can see just about anything in space

This year has been a particularly exciting one for space enthusiasts – but if scientists have anything to say about it, 2021 will go out with a (big) bang. This weekend, the world will see the launch of the James Webb Telescope, which will be able to see just about anything in space including the light of the very first stars in the universe, completely changing the way that we see our solar system and beyond.

An awe-inspiring collaboration between NASA as well as the European and Canadian Space Agencies, the James Webb is 100 times stronger than the Hubble telescope, making it the most powerful of its kind ever built.

With this – Canadian, American and European scientists will be among the very first to see on faraway planets and into the very first galaxies to have formed after the first explosion.

“The Webb mission, an international partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and CSA, will explore every phase of cosmic history – from within the solar system to the most distant observable galaxies in the early universe, and everything in between,” NASA wrote in a recent press release.

“Webb will reveal new and unexpected discoveries and help humanity understand the origins of the universe and our place in it.”

To put it plainly, this 21.3-foot gold-plated mirror is one of the coolest things to be built in our lifetime – which is why we will definitely be tuning in at 7:20 am EST Saturday, December 25th for its launch.
