One of B.C.’s best wine regions is this sunny lakeside town with countless beaches

The sun is shining, and so are the vines and fruit orchards of one of B.C.’s most popular wine regions. Known for its countless beaches and 2,100 hours of sunshine per year, Naramata is not just a summer destination for the books. The buzz of new beginnings and bursting spring colours await, and visitors have the chance to enjoy it all before peak season.

Outdoor adventurers can get a head start paddling, kayaking, hiking, and stargazing all against the backdrop of Okanagan Lake and the Monashee Mountains.

Outdoor adventures

From the sun-drenched Kettle Valley Rail Trail to the Three Blind Mice Trails, there are tons of scenic hiking opportunities here.

A shorter hike that offers beginner mountain bikers a great alternative to the busier trails lies on Campbell Mountain, though there are more technically challenging biking trails here, too.

Okanagan Mountain Park is a year-round provincial park with six marine campgrounds stretching from secluded bays to sandy beaches. Considered a boater’s paradise, there are 33 km of undeveloped shoreline to explore.

For something a little more akin to a stroll, head to Wharf Park for prime sunset viewing, or plunge off the old train docks into the beautiful waters of Okanagan Lake.

Spring events

Want to spring into action with a couple of wine tours, outdoor festivals, and community markets? Here are just some of the exciting annual events to check out in the coming months:

Naramata Inn

Visitors can book their overnight stay at one of the mission-style rooms at the Naramata Inn, which has been around for over a century. Plus, its famed Lapin Perdu Bistro (opening May 16, 2025) is getting a major menu refresh that includes an Okanagan-forward wine list and French and Quebecois dishes. Those who visit during the summer months will also get to enjoy new events and soirées like “Rosé, Croquet & a DJ” on the Inn’s lawn.

Want to take advantage of Naramata Bench’s stunning wineries? The 2025 Insider’s Pass gets you access to exclusive offers at over 30 spots, priced at $55 per person.
