This scenic BC trail is part of a historic railway that runs along a canyon

The season of colourful fall road trips is just around the corner, and there’s no better place to start than the famed Myra Canyon Trestles in British Columbia.

Situated 24 kilometres from downtown Kelowna, the famed Myra-Bellevue Park has a scenic trail that was once a part of the historic Kettle Valley Railway, running along a deep, scenic canyon.

Whether you choose to hike or bike the year-round route, come fall, you’ll be treated to beautiful autumn colours and foliage as far as the eye can see. And you can take it all in from 18 trestle bridges that line the journey!

So if you’re looking for a quintessential fall destination to visit in BC, the trestles should be at the top of your list.

The park has a number of trails and tunnels visitors can explore on foot, including a new trail that just opened this summer in the Myra Canyon overlooking trestle #4.

As well, those who’d rather pay homage to the railroad’s past can embark on a scenic train ride through Kettle Valley (fall rides through October 14th).

For those committed to a hike, you can explore 12 km of trail between the Myra access and June Springs access points, which make for a stunning day trip once the leaves start to change colour.

Finally, if you’re looking for a beautiful drive to add to your trip itinerary, it’s worth it to head to Kelowna after exploring the trestles. According to Tourism Kelowna, the 40-minute drive takes you past farms, orchards, vineyards, and golf courses, all the while giving you a front-row seat to BC’s changing fall colours.

Note that the Myra Canyon Trestles are open year-round, with park services available until November 15th.
