These exciting TV shows & movies are filming in Toronto

They don’t call us Hollywood North for nothing! Over the years, Toronto has grown in popularity as a filming spot for major TV shows and movies. If you live here, you’ve likely walked past a busy film shoot on one of the city’s main roads or spotted a celebrity wandering around.

The next few months will be no different, as Toronto gears up for its latest list of productions that are filming.

From Christmas movies to horror series, here are the upcoming TV shows and movies that are filming in Toronto.

A Merry Little Ex-Mas

We love a holiday rom-com, and this one by Netflix is filming in Toronto.

The film stars Alicia Silverstone, Oliver Hudson, Jameela Jamil, Pierson Fode, and Melissa Joan Hart and according to Netflix, is about “a recently separated couple attempting to have one last Christmas with the kids before she sells the family home to move and start fresh. But complications arise when the husband brings his amazing new girlfriend into the mix.”

Sounds juicy!

When: Now until March 2025

Testaments

This is not a drill! The sequel to Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale (also filmed in Toronto) begins filming in March 2025.

According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance, “This series is set 15 years after the original story and follows the lives of three women: Aunt Lydia, Agnes, and Daisy. Ann Dowd is confirmed to reprise her role as Aunt Lydia.”

When: Starting March 2025

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen

If you loved Stranger Things, then get ready for this one.

Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators, directors and executive producers of Stranger Things are also the executive producers on this project. Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco are set to play the bride and groom in the upcoming horror series, filming in Toronto from now until April 2025.

When: Now until April 2025

Law & Order Toronto

Season two of Law & Order’s Toronto rendition is out in February, but season three is already filming!

Keep your eyes peeled as production is underway, shooting until May 2025.

When: Now until May 2025

The Minature Wife

Described as a “romantic dramedy” The Miniature Wife is filming in Toronto, starring and executive produced by Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen.

Deadline reports that the series will examine “the power (im)balances between spouses, Lindy (Banks) and Les (Macfadyen), who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.”

When: Now until July 2025

Jonas Brothers Christmas Movie

While this film doesn’t have an official title yet, I can tell you two things: It’s a Christmas movie, and the Jonas Brothers are in it.

The Jo Bros have been spotted filming and hanging out all around the city, most recently playing some pool and snapping pics at popular Toronto bar, Cherry’s High Dive. 

TMZ has reported that the three brothers have been filming the movie in Toronto, with Nick Jonas’ wife Priyanka also spotted showing her support on set.
