Here’s how you can help McDonald’s & Food Banks Canada get 500,000 meals to Canadians in need

It’s officially the season of giving. When it comes to giving back to the community, McDonald’s Canada has been walking the walk all year round- across the country, and right here in Vancouver.

Sure, it has been serving up some of the most iconic burgers to us all along. But the oh-so-iconic brand and its independent franchises have also been living their purpose of feeding and fostering our communities.

And now with our help, McDonald’s Canada and its independent franchisees will be donating up to 500,000 meals through Food Banks Canada this holiday season as part of their ambition to provide approximately 1 million meals every year to Canadians in need.

Through The Giving Page, every unique visit to the website equaled one meal donated to Food Banks Canada, supporting Canadians in need. 

As part of their mission to help Canadian communities where they need it most, McDonald’s Canada has been supporting programs and initiatives that care for Vancouver & British Columbian families in need. And in the process, they are inspiring the spirit of giving in us too.

ICYMI, here are some ways they did that in the past year alone—

• British Columbians raised more than $600,000 on McHappy Day to support Ronald McDonald House Charities and other local children’s charities
• Guests in Prince George helped raise $6,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC and another $8,000 for the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society
• The Coffee with a Cop event with the Surrey Business Association supported homeless and less fortunate guests within the community
• The communities of North and West Vancouver raised over $15,000 for the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation and $12,000 for the Vancouver Avian Research Centre
• McDonald’s Franchisees around the province sponsored local hockey teams, food banks, and other important organizations in their communities
• McDonald’s Franchisees provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to youth pursuing education at local post-secondary schools.
